Emergency Preparedness Plan

September 1, 2006

Purpose: To have a documented action plan for preparing our     community in advance of “tropical storms and hurricanes”.

In advance of Storm:

ü    48 hours before forecasted arrival of the storm, the committee members meet to determine if and when the action plan should be implemented.

ü    24 hours before storm arrival, committee meets to reconfirm if storm action plan should be implemented.

ü    18 to 24 hours committee implements the following plan:

1.    Secure pool furniture chairs and loungers by placing them carefully in the pool.

2.    Waste baskets, umbrellas, clock, temperature gauge, small tables should be placed in the bathrooms, and the gas grill brushes placed under the grill lids.

3.    Large tables can be placed in the pool or turned upside down in the screened room, or placed upside down in the pool depending on the expected wind from the storm.

4.    Lock bathroom doors.

5.    Using the orange cords, tie all the residents’ courtyard gates to prevent swinging.

6.    Using nylon rope, tie the trash dumpster lids down, and tie the gates together.

7.    Inspect all the lanais from the rear to make sure all furniture, and exposed items have been removed, or secured.

8.    Survey the residents to identify those who will be staying for the event, and determine what help, if any, they may need before, during and after the storm.

9.    Inspect the front of the units to determine that all real estate signs, planters, and miscellaneous items have been removed or secured.

After the Storm:

ü    As soon as the storm has passed and it’s deemed safe, execute the following steps:

               1.    Remove trash and vegetation from the storm drains.

2.    Check with residents who may have required assistance.

3.    Assess all buildings and heavy vegetation noting damage for follow up with the management company.

4.    Remove heavy vegetation form roadway to allow traffic movement.

5.    Untie all courtyard gates, dumpster gates and dumpsters.

6.    Replace the pool furniture and accessories.

7.    Schedule survivor’s party.
